Obituary of Duane Smith

June 29, 1969 – Bishop’s Cove, Newfoundland

April 18, 2024 – Calgary, Alberta

 

Duane Smith of Calgary, AB, passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at the age of 54 years.

 

Duane leaves behind to mourn, his son Nathan Piercey, grandchildren, Kaiden, Carson, and Axle; sisters, Donna (Jim) and Denise (David); nieces, Jennifer (Bradley), Jessica (Kenneth), and Vanessa (Curtis); nephews, Jamie (Janine) and Andrew (Charla); great-nieces and nephews, Brooke, Ryan, Bella, Mya, Wyatt, and Hunter; and many family and friends.

 

Duane was predeceased by his parents, Donald and Mildred Smith; son Justin Duane, and his grandparents, John and Gladys Smith, and George and Mary Crane.

 

Funeral Service and Inurnment will be held at Slade’s Funeral Home, NL, at a later date.

I want to thank God for the life that Duane got to live.

For everyone's hearts and souls that he touched,

that he made smile and laugh.

For every moment that he helped us in each and every way

and any way that he ever could, because that's the heart that he had.

I want to thank God that he gave life to his son Nathan

who will now walk around this earth without his dad.

For all the times that we got to be able to be there and know him

and be a part of his life. We are definitely blessed.

Thank you, God, for the courage and strength that you are

going to give all of us to get through these days ahead.

Because life can change ever so quickly.

I am asking in God's name to meet Duane at

the gates of Heaven with his arms wide open.

And may he forever live in peace and grace.

For the Glory of God, we thank you Lord for everything.

Life is so short and so precious.

We thank you for loaning us this short,

sweet time that we had with Duane.

May he look after us all forever more in everlasting.
